Homo Statue
Tom’s Company, Barcelona
2000’s
Unknown
An eye for the unconventional, Tom Hoffmann once again captures the feeling of standing out with his outstanding piece titled “Homo”. This statue is reminiscent of the Judas Priest glory days with its black leather motif mixed with the shocking colours that we see in modern-day pop art and drag. The style itself came from the late 1970s with the rise of the punk wave and “leather culture” pioneered by bands coming out of England. The fashion statement was a bold counter-movement against the status quo, and help individuals all over the world find their true selves. This particular piece hearkens to that time anti-establishment, all while keeping its eyes on a bright future.
