Girl Sketch
Francois Krige
1976
Charcoal
In a similar recipe to his previous charcoal works, Francois Krige has chosen to pay careful attention to the rendering of the face with shading and details. In contrast, the clothes are simply rendered with a contour line, like cutouts. Interestingly the arm in front is drawn in a similar manner to the clothes, whereas the arm furthest away has been given more shading. The girl seems posed, almost as if she is keenly aware of being drawn.
